Graduating from the University of Glasgow in 1998, winner of the Alison Gourdie Memorial Medal in 2009, Alan has been a consultant in Emergency Medicine since 2009 and has worked in the ED of QEUH since its opening in 2015.  As Clinical Director for Emergency Medicine, Alan has a passion for driving excellence in patient care through Quality Improvement, Innovation, Research and Education.  Alan has a particular interest in Innovation in the Emergency Department with a focus around medical neo-tech.  Currently the centre of his attention is the development of the Scottish Trauma Network backed trauma app, and a project linking patient experience feedback with improvements in the ED.  A modern iconoclast with a drive to improve patient experiences and outcomes.
